City dentists get muddy to fundraise for SUGAR SMART
Three dentists from Bow Lane Dental in the City of London braved the Tough Mudder competition in September to raise funds for work with schools in the City of London.
Dentists James Goolnik, Richard O'Brien and Mark Vardon from Bow Lane Dental Group in the City of London braved 12 miles of mud, sweat and no less than 24 obstacles to compete in this year's Tough Mudder competition, and lived to tell the tale.
All the money raised is going toward engagement work in schools within the Borough, including lesson plans to help start the sugar debate at schools with pupils and starter packs with toothbrushes, toothpaste, stickers and activities to spark good dental habits.
Bow Lane founder and dentist James said "It was a wonderful challenge and I recommend it for anyone to help overcome their hate of being cold, wet and muddy.
"Extracting decayed teeth is the most common reason children are given a general anaesthetic in the UK and has increased by more than 24% in the last 10 years. There is a problem out there. Help us get the activity pack out to the schools around here, and make a difference."
It's not too late to donate to their fundraiser via the Bow Lane Dental JustGiving page.
