Exeter City Football Club takes a stand on sugar
Exeter City Football Club pledged to stop selling sweets from their club shop, leading to 1,500 bags of sweets and 150kg of sugar no longer being sold on premises.
Exeter City Football Club is leading the way on sugar and were the first organisation to make SUGAR SMART pledges in Exeter. Some of their pledges include stocking healthier food and drink in their outlets, reducing sugary food and drinks, introducing Sugar Smart education for children, and funding healthy living activities as part of their Football in the Community Children’s Challenge.
Less than a year in and the results are in: A tangible result was the removal of sweets from retail venue. A total of 1,500 bags of sweets a year are no longer sold at their club shop, resulting in nearly 150 kg of sugar removed from the venue. Grecians 1; tooth decay 0.
