Aberdeen goes SUGAR SMART with focus on schools
Aberdeen launched its SUGAR SMART campaign on 1st September with support from healthcare, community and education sectors.
The event took place as part of the launch of the Sustainable Food City Partnership Aberdeen, which brings together key stakeholders to drive positive change whilst making healthy and sustainable food a defining characteristic of our city.
Led by the Sustainable Food City Partnership Aberdeen, the campaign is working with a broad spectrum of businesses and organisations (including local schools, community centres, and work places) to change the local food environment and run community engagement work. These SUGAR SMART participating sectors will lead the way in supporting Aberdeen residents to lead healthier lives.
The Aberdeen campaign is developing activities alongside Aberdeen City Council, Sport Aberdeen, Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust, NHS Grampian Public Health and Aberdeen Health & Social Care Partnership.
SUGAR SMART Aberdeen will also work with a local primary school and the students themselves to pilot sessions, which will be rolled out citywide to a variety of schools. So watch this space!
